BLACK & GOLD
Documentary on Wichita State University Plane Crash in 1970
On October 2nd, 1970 two charter planes carrying Wichita State University football players, coaches and boosters left Denver heading for Logan, Utah. One plane followed the charted course. The other plane deviated from the plan and crashed into the side of a mountain. 31 people died in that crash but 9 survived.
Much has been written about this tragic incident but the story has not been preserved on video for future generations. This documentary retraces the tragedy that forever altered the future of the university and the victims and their families. Black & Gold also
looks at how the community and even the nation came together to help Wichita State rebuild and recover.
Black & Gold: Remembering the WSU Plane Crash, an hour-long documentary. Thanks to a generous grant from the K.T. Wiedemann Foundation this project has been edited and presented in High Definition.
